Audio Recording

This describes the process of recording a sermon or any other program held in the sanctuary.

All recordings are accomplished using the “Sound” PC using the freeware program called “Audacity”

  1. Turn on and login to the “Sound” computer.
  2. Run audacity program.
  3. Click on record when ready to record.
  4. When ready click on stop.
  5. Perform this step, if any editing is necessary for dead space at beginning or to remove unwanted sections.
    1. Connect headphones to the sound computer headphone jack.
    2. Press space bar to start/stop playing recording.
      1. For dead space ad the beginning click on recording 1-2 seconds before sound starts and drag to the left to select unwanted dead space. Press delete key.
      2. For dead space ad the end click on recording 1-2 seconds before sound stops.
      3. Press the space bar to start playing. When playback is at the correct spot press space bar again to stop playing.
      4. Click at spot where playback was stopped and drag to the right to select unwanted dead space. Press delete key.
      5. For unwanted sections in the middle, use space bar to find start and end of section to remove. Using mouse you can select what you want to remove and press Ctrl-X (Cut). Click a little before section you removed and press space bar to play and make sure it sounds ok. If not, then press Ctrl-Z (Undo) to try again.
      6. Once everything has been edited you can proceed to the next step.
  6. Click on File Save and enter date in mm-yy-yy with the suffix am or pm and browse to the “Audacity Files” folder and save it.
    1. We don’t pad the month or day with zeroes either.
  7. Click on File Export.
  8. Enter desired filename and browse to the \documents\my webs\calvaryvc\sermons\ folder. For sermons the default filename is mm-dd-yy and then am or pm. We don’t pad the month or day with zeroes either.
  9. Click on ok to start export and then click on ok to accept default meta data.
  10. This completes the creation of the mp3 file for use on the website or to provide to the desired party.
